  1. An idea for this memorial could be to have a short biography of Abraham Lincoln and some of his great accomplishments mentioned. Also, some of the famous things he has said could be added to the memorial.

  2. In his biography, Lincoln's presidency should be talked about and his major accomplishments as a president. Pictures of Lincoln should be added to show what things Lincoln did during his time.

  3. In the biography, more personal stories should be added; such as childhood stories and his life before the presidency. Also, there should be a list of accomplishments that Lincoln left for our country.

  4. I think the whole MEmorial could be set up better. Right now the general design is a little bit dull; I think the actual memorial would be honored better with something that really showed how inspiring it really is. It definitely needs more pictures of the monument itself.

  5. I think that a picture looking straight up at the statue of Lincoln would give a more dramatic view of the memorial. In person it is quite impressive and the MEmorial doesn't really do it justice.

  6. To add to the impact of the memorial I believe that there should be some sort of interactive set-up where people could see what Lincoln's childhood was like. The MEmorial could show the daily life of Lincoln through something such as a video. The video would be able to depict some of the tough times and obstacles he had to overcome to become a great leader later on in his life. This would also give people a more realistic view of what life was like in Lincoln's time.

  7. Going through the full history of Lincoln's life would be good for a MEmorial, but I also think it would be important to show the impact his deeds and time in presidency made on America today. Showing his whole life, would allow people to better understand how he developed as a person, to become the great man he was and show why we have a memorial for him today.

  8. I believe that the emphasis on his childhood and life is a great idea, but also the MEmorial needs to emphasize how he served this country and make it more appealing to the eye and more interactive. It needs to show how he impacted America that affects us today and during his Presidency.

  9. I agree with the idea to show how he served his country and his impact on America. I think especially it should emphasize the strength that he had during the years of the war to keep our nation together. Maybe a section showing the fact that he was the only president to serve while our nation was together, divided, and then together again, and all that he did himself to keep it together.

  10. I think that in a MEmorial about the Lincoln Memorial you should definitely include a resume of the things he accomplished during his time as president. Including the resume would give people an appreciation of the many great things he did and how great of a leader he was.

  11. Along with a resume I think it would be neat to have pictures of his old campaign posters. It would also be good to include old newspaper articles describing how people felt about in his time. He is a hero today but how did the South feel about him during his time as president?

  12. I think going through Lincoln's life would be a great addition. This way people could easily relate to him & see how humble he was. Lincoln grew up doing hard labor on a farm and was not from a rich family. People would respect him more for achieving what he accomplished in his life time if they knew his background.

  13. I think that the MEmorial should definitely include pictures of the actual memorial in D.C. Lincoln is presented as a such a big, strong figure and should be done so on the MEmorial as well. A full description of Lincoln's life through the years is also necessary. He was well-respected because of his background, personality and accomplishments. People need to know this information in order to uphold the same respect.

  14. I really like the idea of emphasizing Lincoln's childhood. It would be neat to hear about his embarrassing stories and the struggles he went through as he grew up. It would help visitors connect with Lincoln and therefore be more interacted with his story and the amazing things he's done for this country.

  15. I agree with everyone who would like to have a MEmorial highlighting Lincoln's childhood. You can learn a lot about a person when you look to their upbringing. Lincoln Definitely has one of the more interesting childhoods of our presidents. He did not even go to school. Also some information about his military experiences and associations could help to show another aspect of his life.

  16. I think that including information about Lincoln's childhood was a good idea. Also including information about his family and upbringing would be a good addition, allowing us to see how he grew up. There are only few pictures on the MEmorial of the Lincoln Memorial, the website could be improved if more photographs were added.

  17. I agree with Anna some sort of interactive should be set up so people can see what Lincoln went through to get to his presidency. Also talking about Lincoln as a person, not as a diplomatic person, would be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Another addition or way to set this information about Lincoln up would be to have a "Lincoln Through the Years" sort of thing where you could scroll through a time line of Lincolns life and click on specific parts you want to know more about to be redirected to lengthier information.

  19. I agree with Shayne's idea of a Lincoln through the years set up where users/viewers could go through Lincolns life and main events. Along with this it would also be interesting and informative to create a broad world and/or american history spectrum spanning his life. This would show how Lincoln influenced and was influenced by the changing world around him, and give some temporal perspective to his life.

  20. I think that this MEmorial is not set up very well. If you click on the "People" link, it allows you to click on Abraham Lincoln and read about his life, but there are no pictures. There are also no pictures for any other names stated, and it is always hard (at least for me) to really get a feel for something or someone if I do not see a picture to go alone with it. I agree with Anna and Kathleen on the interactive part, because that always makes things more interesting. Showing the different sides of Lincoln and the many different roles he took on would help everyone to get a well-rounded impression of him.

  21. I also think that pictures would add a lot to the memorial. Or maybe even pictures of the Civil War with information about how Lincoln handled these problems. I also think that there should be more information on the Emancipation Proclamation, because it changed a lot of things in our country, like how we view equality and citizens of America. Also, information from when he was younger would be very interesting.

  22. I agree that pictures would definitely add a lot to the memorial. The view of the statue is very impressive, and the current pictures on the website definitely don't convey that. I also agree that there should be more information on Lincoln's childhood and career. I like the idea of adding more interesting artifacts to the website, such as old campaign posters and old newspaper articles about Lincoln.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The old newspapers about Lincoln, especially articles discussing his assassination would definitely make the MEmorial much more convicting because it allows the reader to fully grasp what others felt during the time of his assassination. Another way to contribute to the effectiveness of the memorial would be to express the great influence Lincoln had on our country by explaining the efforts Lincoln went through during his presidency in the Civil War.

I agree with Dakota, this MEmorial is great. Lincoln is such an amazing part of DC and allows citizens and aliens to understand the magnitude of this Great American. Kathleen brings up a great point of making it more interactive, possibly into a slideshow video of his life and accomplishments. I agree with Ben and this should highlight his upbringing and childhood.

  25. Videos and pictures, along with brief descriptions of Lincoln's accomplishments would be perfect for this MEmorial. A slideshow, as zac mentions, would be especially ideal. Also, even just a list of Lincoln's many accomplishments would be interesting because it would show just how much he impacted our country, for the better. Maybe comparing his successes to a modern-day celebrity (like Paris Hilton or someone with very few life accomplishments) would put his greatness in perspective. Just an idea..

  26. I really like the idea about integrating old newspaper articles, etc. into the memorial. I really think it would be neat to see what citizens, such as the newspaper writers, were thinking during this time. Newspaper articles can be very opinionated so I think it would be very effective to read the old articles and see those opinions written out on paper. I also think that Lincoln's many accomplishments should be emphasized on the memorial. Lincoln was respected by many and people today should be able to feel these emotions through the memorial.

  27. The Lincoln Memorial is a very famous symbol of American heritage but I think there are some things that could make it better. Most importantly making it a bit more modern and possibly interactive to viewers. On another note however, the simplicity of the monument shows how much times have changed, yet Lincoln is still a highly revered figure.

  28. This MEmorial would definitely benefit from more pictures of the memorial that would put its magnitude into perspective. I think the idea of old newspaper articles is a good idea since it takes us back into the time that he lived. Also looking deeper into his childhood and providing this information would show a lot about his character.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I like the idea of using newspaper articles as a way to show information from that time period's eyes. I think that this MEmorial could be better improved by including an interactive time-line of Lincoln's life and accomplishments with links to other pages with more in-depth information.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree that the Lincoln memorial could use some modernization, but I don't think it should be changed too drastically. I like the idea of adding a biography of Lincoln and including information about his life prior to the presidency. The biography should also have a section devoted to his greatest accomplishments during his presidency.

  31. I think the MEmorial should be modernized. A slideshow- including an in depth biography that includes pictures throughout his life, would be a nice tribute. In addition to his accomplishments, I would like to see more personal information about him. His quotes, family life, and life after presidency would be entertaining.

  32. One important thing about Lincoln was his hardships and the number of attempts he had to make to get to the position of President of the United States. In the MEmorial an emphasis should be put on his trials. This would inspire other people as well as give respect to Lincoln

  33. The Lincoln Memorial is already a huge part of history and pop culture as well. It is featured in multiple movies and is a staple of the monuments in Washington, DC. People know this monument and tourists frequent it because it is well known. I do not think that this monument needs to be more elaborate or detailed. It grabs attention because of it's large stature and therefore encourages people to go learn more about Lincoln and what he attributed to this country because it does not say so much about his life.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The internet may crash and stone may wear away, but nothing will be able to erase the impact that Lincoln had on our nation's history. The MEmorial should definitely include Lincoln's trials and the hardships he endured to achieve the great accomplishments he did for this country.

  35. I agree with Hal in that the Lincoln memorial as it stands needs little to improve upon itself.. However it may be a truly inspirational vision for the MEmorial to discuss the overall impact of Lincoln, not only socially/economically/politically, but also in what way he has influenced and inspired Americans today, possibly by making interviews with average Americans.

    ReplyDelete
  36. It would definitely be interesting to see what people nowadays have to say about Lincoln, but perhaps if letters or biographies of people living during his time period wrote about them were also included. This would give a timeless indication of the impact that Lincoln had on these people. If the MEmorial included a discussion board that let users post their own comments of what they believed Lincoln was able to accomplish or any indications of his influence today.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree , being young an not around when Lincoln was, having stories would be very beneficial to myself and others . The Lincoln MEmorial is a nice built webpage but perhaps having evidence and non-fiction stories could help bring a more effective and "timeless" as Madi said, indication of the impact that Lincoln had on American people . Also, how he accomplish to still impact people today through his legacy .So in addition to letters or biographies from people during the time period maybe a blog for people to comment their opinions and facts about the time period and Lincoln's influence .

  38. Other than knowing that Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves I know very little about him so I would like to see more stories about his life and family may improve the content of the webpage. It has a lot of solid information but I would like to see a little more.

    ReplyDelete
  39. More information would be very useful, I recommend explaining how Lincoln actually helped abolish slavery. I also think that the page could include talking about Abraham's life growing up, for a better connection to him.

  40. Maybe if the memorial had a small television at the bottom that showed maybe a brief ten minute summary of Lincoln's life it would attract more people because it would not only be a monument or a statue, it would be interactive.

  41. I agree with Danyell and Jaquez the memorial needs more information about Lincoln's life and what changes he made. The memorial needs to go into detail more. It also needs to have more visual.

  42. I agree with Dayan that the memorial needs more information about Lincolns life and also his background and how it help made him the person he was witch help change our country
